Ganwaria Rajput
The Gandhwaria Rajput is a Rajput clan claiming descent from the mythical Indian Fire dynasty. The clan is based in the eastern an central parts of Bihar, the Gandhwaria (or ganwaria, Gandhwair, Kuldevi : Jiwachh Mata, Gotra : Parashar). Members of the clan call themselves Gandhwariya Parmar. They have traditionally ruled the Malwa region of western central India. Gandhwaria are an Agnivanshi (Sub clan of Suryavanshi) Rajput clan. The Ganwaria Rajputs of Bihar which is an out-shoot of mighty Parmar dynasty. The clan traces its lineage back to Raja Bhoj,a philosopher king and polymath of medieval India and Raja Vikramaditya,a legendary 1st century BCE Emperor of Ujjain, India, famed for his wisdom, valor and magnanimity .
== Ethnographic status ==
Gandhwarias are in significant population in western and southern parts of Bihar and also vague in number in northern Jharkhand. They are respectfully locally called as ''babu-saheb'' and ''babuaan''. The Gandhwarias are scattered all over Tirhoot and Western regions of Bihar . The royal famalies of Sonbarsa, Shahpur, Panchgachia, Durgapur, Sukhpur and Kapsia are part of the clan. Common surnames used by Gandhwaria Rajputs include Singh, Rajput, Ganwaria, Parmar and Parashar.
